For the past few years i ve been going to Dakar, Senegal every 2 or 3 months to play @ The Duplex Club (where my big lil brother Dj Sake will be going to this week-end). While clubbing is great in Africa, i ve also had the pleasure to take part in the annual International Hip-Hop Festival Festa2H since 2006. It’s during this festival that i realised just how much Senegalese people love hip-hop. There’s really a lot of rappers and while technology & money is often short, the passion is really there. That’s why i was really proud to take part in realizing the intro (along with my buddy Dj Green Giant) to the compilation “Les Pirogues Du Hip-Hop Se Mobilisent Contre La Migraton Clandestine” which came out in december in Senegal. The main theme of the compilation is the ever growing problem of illegal migration of people trying to reach Europe by any way possible. And how dangerous & deceiving it can be. The cd features some dope african rappers. Give it a listen, it’s really worth checkin out.
